LDS GIRLS CAMP YCL LEADERSHIP TRAINING

I am so excited to be returning as Assistant to the Girls Camp Director.  I LOVE girls camp and I\’m so ready to be in the beginning stages of planning.  Our Young Women’s President mentioned that a good starting point for the YCL’s (Youth Camp Leaders) would be Leadership Training.  I fully agreed and was so grateful to find more info in the Girls Camp Manual, pg 88.  It referenced me to The Handbook 2, section 3.  The entire section is about leadership within the church (and life) and had so much good information.  How better to share all of that information than in a cute handout?  I\’m hoping the girls will save this and hang it somewhere to remind them of why we’re doing all the things we’re doing in preparation for camp and also as they continue on in life and church.  All of these bullet points are crucial for leadership in any situation and I just love how it all came together.

  2. I would love to know how you went about teaching these leadership skills to your YCL’s and some more info on your training, I think this is so important and something that I really want to teach and train our girls in this year.

    1. Basically I just went through and shared my thoughts on each of these points and tried to discuss them as a group. The beauty of this being it can easily be as long or as short as you want, and the possibility of it being a Sunday lesson. We did it as part of camp planning and it worked out really well.
