A DAY AT THE RANCH

It’s days like these that make me feel alive.  I often miss living a little further out in the country-with big wide fields and horses in my backyard.  My husband often makes fun of me when our friends ask where we’re from.  He was inner-city Idaho Falls and I was more out in the country-but if you ask him he implies we were WAY out in the country.  I spent my Saturday mornings cleaning out horse corrals and gardening amongst all of our Saturday chores.  I used to go run through the fields-that’s the only time in my life I\’ve enjoyed running.  There is something magical about looking out across open space as you run.  Anyway, spending a day on horseback at the ranch was just what I needed.  I not only got to take my kids for a day, but I also went and helped out with the cattle drive earlier in the week.  It was pretty amazing.

My poor husband is 100% scared of horsies.  It was a big deal getting him to sit on this awesome mule.  Once he saw that the mule was absolutely no threat he settled in and had fun.

Grandpa Evans.  He and the rest of the crew are a bunch of old cowboys.  They made me feel so at home.

This poor sweet babe was too young to know he was supposed to be scared of me.  He walked right up to my camera.  Sweet little cow.
